Battery Basics
"Your bike won't start in the mountains. Is it the cold or your battery dying?"
The Power Reservoir
The battery is your bike's power reservoir. It stores energy and supplies it to all systems — ignition, lights, horn, indicators. The Himalayan uses a 12V lead-acid or lithium battery.
A healthy battery is crucial for reliable starting, especially in cold weather when the battery's efficiency drops and the engine needs more power to turn over.

🎙️ Listen to Explanation
In this lesson, you'll learn:
- How motorcycle batteries work
- How to check battery voltage
- Signs of a failing battery
- How temperature affects battery performance
🧩 Battery Voltage Simulation
Adjust the battery voltage to see how it affects your bike's electrical system.
Battery is functional but not fully charged. Starting may be slower.
A healthy 12V motorcycle battery should read between 11.5V and 12.8V when the bike is off.
Below 10.5V indicates a severely discharged or failing battery.
